Marta Carminati
Senegal Country Coordinator
Marta, a veterinary surgeon by training, graduated from the University of Pisa with a specialisation in food safety in developing contexts, with a particular interest in animal health and the implications this can have on human health and populations in the world's most unfavourable contexts. Marta's approach to humanitarian aid began in the early 2000s in Rwanda, in Rilima, at the non-profit Rilima Augere Foundation in which she still participates in distance activities, contributing with remote support and then beginning her profession as a cooperator in West africa, since October 2013 in northern Mauritania, in Zouerat. Marta has experienced part of her career path as a veterinarian in development contexts in Mauritania (2013 - 2017), Senegal (2017 - 2021) and Niger (2019 - 2022), with punctual missions and longer mission periods alongside Veterinarians Without Borders ETS, of which she has held the role of Secretary General since 2018, within which association, she also holds the position of representative for West Africa as part of the Vétérinaires Sans Frontieres International Network, also since the same year.
Marta joined the COMI family in 2017 thanks to an exploratory mission organised within the framework of the 'PAKALA' dairy project currently operating in the village of Ndiao Bambaly in Senegal, where she currently holds the role of legal representative for our organisation, coordinating the ground activities in close collaboration with our local staff.
If you are interested in a collaboration with Senegal or even if you just want to know more about our activities there, please do not hesitate to contact Marta at our Senegal office address: senegal@comiong.it , we will be happy to answer you.

Paolo is the member of the COMI Board who devotes attention to projects in Italy. He is also a volunteer teacher in our Italian school for migrants.
He works as a scholar of logic and ontology and, because of this, he is trying to explore, for COMI, the theme of violence as falsification: what tools do we have to preserve intellectual honesty and defend against falsification?
